Happy to See Her Go

Thirteen or Fourteen years ago I decided to buy a sailboat.  I sold her this weekend.  Since I was a boy I have loved boats.  I am not sure why.  I do recall, while fishing the south shore of lake Pontchartrain, look across the vast water, unable to see the other side and thinking, “What’s over there?”

Maybe that’s why I bought this Catalina 25. It was payment on a promise of adventure.  The quest to see what’s “over-there”. To chase that horizon like so many other people have done.  Now another family gets to use her to chase the horizon and prepare for a dream they have.  I hope they find the chase worth it.

I know they are getting a deal.  A boat in far better shape than I received her. They are paying far less than I have in her financially; but I have extracted far more than the difference, in experiences.  Fair Winds, Ventolines -1.
